DeWayne Edward Franklin passed peacefully from this life the morning of August 16 after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his family and a special friend, Vickie Hixon.Dewayne was born in South Bend, Indiana to Monroe Franklin and Viola Mitchem.Viola married Neal Strong early in DeWayne's childhood and they raised him in a loving family.DeWayne lived his life to the fullest. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favorite time was family gatherings, cooking and eating. After graduating from Parkersburg High School, DeWayne joined the military and traveled the world, but His greatest joy was his children.To cherish his memory, DeWayne leaves a special friend, Vickie Hixon; his father, Neal Strong of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four children, Shawn, Da'Nean, Tara and Breenae; five grandchildren, Cydney, Blake, Calaya, Ta'Nia and Jordan; four brothers, William McGhee of Santa Fe, N.M., Gregory Moore (Taunji) of Long Beach, Calif., Terry Ellis (Lona) and Michael Strong (Stephanie), both of Parkersburg; and three sisters, Pamela Franklin of South Bend, Ind., Sandra Ellis of Fort Worth, Tex., and Clarissa Strong Plair of Cedar Hill, Tex.He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Mitchem Strong; a daughter Pamela Franklin; a son, Todd Franklin;a brother, Alan Franklin; and two sisters, Dennise Franklin and Monica L. Franklin.He will be missed by a host of family and friends.Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Rev. Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
