William “Bill” H. Trussell, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away peacefully on December 12, 2011 at his grandson's home. He was born January 6, 1922 in Winchester, Kentucky a son of the late William M. and Viola L. Trussell.Following high school, Bill played Minor League baseball for the Cincinnati Reds, and then later enlisted in the US Army where he served in Normandy until an honorable discharge. He later worked and retired as a conductor and engineer with the former B&O Railroad (Chesapeake). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing solitaire, and always held a passion for baseball. He was a member of the VFW, Am Vets, and DAV. Surviving are four daughters, Kim Silence of Manhattan, NY, Jennifer Trussell, Shawna Jackson (fiancé Brent Simmons), and Kathryn Trussell-Barnhart all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; twelve grandchildren, James Trussell (Missy), Joshua Heiney, Jessica Trussell, Justin and Nikki Rexroad, T.J., Carolyn, William, and Samantha Trussell, Shyann Knight (Dennis), Angela Blando, and Natasha Sondren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and cousin-in-law, Leona Trussell of Lexington, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minnie; his late wife, Juanita “Lola”; one son, William Joseph Trussell; one step-daughter, Myrtle Rexroad; and a special cousin, Robert Trussell. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday December 16, 2011, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
