William D. Stevens, 86, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Jan. 14, 2012, at Worthington Manor Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness.He was born March 25, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Dan and Emma Tristic Stevens. He grew up in northern New Jersey, where he graduated from Garfield High School in 1942. William was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his tour of duty in Europe during World War II and was honorably discharged. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering in the late 1950's with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He was later employed in 1962 by the former Borg Warner Chemicals (now General Electric) in Washington, W.Va. After retiring with 25 years of service in 1987, the Stevenses wintered annually in Coconut Creek, Fla., where William was an avid golfer.William married Violet E. Orlando in 1950, who is currently residing in Vienna, W.Va. He is survived also by his daughter, Laurie A. Stevens of Boca Raton, Fla.William's family will announce private memorial service arrangements at a later date for friends and family. A3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va.
