William Franklin Mitchell

William Franklin Mitchell, 72, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away at his residence, January 2, 2012.He was born June 20, 1939, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of Lucille Gerhart of Connecticut and the late William Mitchell.William was retired from Corning Glass/Schott Scientific. He enjoyed landscaping, loved hunting, target practicing, and rebuilding guns. William was an avid outdoorsman.In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, William L. Mitchell (Leslie) of Little Hocking, Ohio; one daughter, Debbie Pace (Doug) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Susan Fink ofConnecticut, Sandra Hackman and Jane Parto both of Maryland; one brother, William Gearhart, Jr. of California; eight grandchildren Tasha Mitchell, William Louis Mitchell II, Lila Mitchell, Justin Cobb, Jonathan Cobb, Ashley Forshey, Eric and Alexis Brum; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, and Aurora Cobb, Noah Forshey, and Wyatt Robinson; several nieces and nephews who he cared for deeply. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, William F. Gerhart.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, Ohio with Pastor Keith Kapple officiating.Interment will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Harrisville, West Virginia.Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
