William Russell Emerson

William Russell Emerson, 64, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed on October 2, 2012 at his residence.He was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of the late Omar and Margaret Johnson Emerson.William was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Fairmont University and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea. He retired after 38 years of service at General Electric in Friendly, W.Va. as an engineer. He enjoyed target shooting and reloading ammunition, and hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and was a Baptist by faith.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joanne Davis Emerson; two daughters, Jennifer Emerson of Williamstown, W.Va. and Melissa Emerson of Belpre, Ohio; and one son, William Russell Emerson Jr. and his fiancé, Kristi Shaffer.He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Todd Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
