William Perry Elschlager,

April 21, 1930 — April 5, 2011

William Perry Elschlager Sr., 80 of Waverly, W.Va. passed away April 5, 2011 at Camden Clark Medical Center, St. Joseph's Campus. He was born April 21, 1930 in Wood County, W.Va. a son of the late Frank Andrew and Ethel Richards Elschlager. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was owner of Elschlager Body Shop until his retirement.He enjoyed raising and caring for his Registered Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses. Quarter horses and Paint horses originated in the West and William loved making trips out west to purchase horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Larissa “Lynn” Deberry-Elschlager; two sons, Terry Elschlager and Perry Elschlager both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; grandchildren;several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Elschlager; two sisters, Margaret Creel and Virginia Penn; and mother-in-law, Margaret Deberry. Funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Berry Elschlager officiating. Visitation will be noon until time of services Friday at the funeral home.Memorials may be made in William's name to the family for the continued care of his beloved horses.
