William “Bud/Bill” Boyce, 83, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 23, 2014 at his residence after an extended illness.He was born June 21, 1930, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Howard and Jessie Burch Boyce.Bill attended Parkersburg High School and was an avid sports fan and supporter of Southside athletics. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he served in the Korean War. Afterwards he worked for 35 years through the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons Union 101 working many years for Dale D. Spicer out of Charleston, W.Va. He finished out his employment working for Wood County Schools Maintenance Department until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his family on the farm in Wirt County. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Kelley Boyce; daughter, Jennifer (Ronnie) Hopkins; grandchildren, Duane and Caitlin; great-grandchild, Payton, all of Parkersburg; sister, Ann Wells of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and lots of cousins, nieces, and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Boyce; three sisters, Eva Haynes, Agnes Staats, and Patricia Brookover; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Randy Dornon officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 15. Interment will follow at Wolverton Cemetery in Wirt County, W.Va.Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
