Rev. Wilbur R. Hardin, 91, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on January 24, 2014 at the West Virginia Masonic Home in Vienna, W.Va.He was born April 30, 1922, in Belpre, Ohio, a son of the late Ben A. and Eva Marie Weaver Hardin.He joined the Army-Air Corp. on the 2nd of Aug. 1940 and was discharged the 9th of Oct. 1945. He was stationed in Texas for two years and was then moved to King College, Tenn. where the Army trained their pilots. He was there for three years.He went to work for Mountain State Steel Foundry in 1946 and retired from there in 1986. Wilbur was also a United Methodist minister for 50 years. He served many churches in these periods. He later was Associate Pastor in Parkersburg and retired from Stout Memorial Church. He had many friends and was well liked by all. He and his wife also took care of the Crossroads Youth Camps for many years. He enjoyed coin collecting and bowling.In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He was also very active in scouting. But in later years, he gave it up for time with his churches.He is survived by one daughter, Sandra K. Hardin-Busch (Kendall) of Washington, W.Va. two sons, James Edward Hardin (Patricia) of Athens, W.Va.and Gary L. Hardin (Jo Ann) of Davisville, W.Va.; one son-in-law, George Moberg of Parkersburg. W.Va.; ten grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to the passing of his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Imogene Hardin; his youngest daughter, Mary Ann Moberg: and one brother, Richard N. Hardin.Funeral services will beheld 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at Stout Memorial Church, Broad St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Paul Russell officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
