Wanda Aulene Bennett

Wanda A. Bennett, 83, formerly of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.She was born March 15, 1929 in Wood County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Earl and Artie Stephens Sands.Wanda retired from Demuth (Brockway) Glass Co. after several years of service. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Wanda was a member of the Parkersburg Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and participated in several women's leagues.Mrs. Bennett made her home with her sister-in-law Connie Sands and her late husband, Aubry Sands who reside in Williamstown, W.Va. She is also survived by her sister, Patty Anderson (Harold “Rex”) of Belpre, Ohio; a niece, Denise Sands Burch of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a nephew ,Andrew Sands (Heather) of Milford Center, Ohio; a devoted and faithful friend, Noel Wheaton of Vienna, W.Va.; and several other nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Okey Bennett; five brothers, Harlan “Bud”, Clyde, Wayne, Aubry, and Donald Sands; and two sisters, Lona Ritchie and Nieta Nichols.Funeral services for Wanda will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor David Easter officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. TO 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.
