Virginia L. Hall Cox, age 83 formerly of Burnt House, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord April 7, 2011 at the Worthington Manor Nursing Facility where she resided.She celebrated her 83rd birthday on March 30, 2011. She was born in Gilmer County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Howard and Bertha McCartney Hall. Virginia was a homemaker and had worked for the Post Office and in restaurants during her younger years. She was a member of the Burnt House United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and participated in fundraising activities for the church and community including the cookbook committee. While at Worthington Manor she was a member of “The Red Hat Club”. She made friends with the staff and residents and especially Pam Bennett with whom she had a special affection. Worthington Manor became Virginia's new home. While there she received love and nurturing from the staff, nurses, CNA'S, maintenance and kitchen departments, volunteer clergy and other groups that entertained and provided a social setting which she enjoyed. She especially enjoyed those who would sing her favorite hymn Ill Fly Away'.Virginia is survived by one daughter, Roselyn Kay Cox Bennett of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Becky” Bennett and grandson-in-law to be Shawn Jones of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Bob Bennett of Vienna, W.Va.; one brother, Harold Hall of Vincent, Ohio; four sisters, Jean Thorn of Beth Alto, Illinois, Betty McGinnis (Harold Lee) of Akron, Ohio, Delora Dent of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Carolyn Burkhammer (Marvin) of Belpre, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. “Jack” Cox; and one sister, Dorothy Hall. The family would like to thank Dr. Powderly, Dr. Thomas Herrman and especiallyDr. Vassar Barsoum who provided care for the past six months and also to HousecallsHospice of Parkersburg.Services will be 12:00 noon Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Lambert-TatmanFuneral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Rev. Melanie Fulmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ritchie County, W.Va. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to time of services Sunday at the funeral home.
