Virginia Lee Desmond

Virginia Lee Desmond, 81, of Parkersburg, W.Va., returned home on May 19, 2012 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, St. Josephs Campus. She was born April 9, 1931 in Reedsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Leo B. and Gladys Hamilton Sisson.Virginia was a graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital Nursing Program and later retired from St. Joseph's where she was a longtime registered nurse. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and lived her life being an example of service to others. Virginia was a member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Alumni. She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church, where she also served on the Rosary Alter Society. Surviving are her two loving daughters, Bridget D. Craig and husband, Allen and Paula Boesen and husband, Brian; her siblings, Myra June, Ellen Louise, Charles Robert, and David; her beloved sister-in-law, Billie Desmond; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Scooby. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen P. Desmond on Feb.20, 1987; and five siblings.A celebration of Mass will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Eric Hall as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. There will be a rosary service at 12:30 p.m. prior to Mass.
