Virginia M. Brown, peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal life on May 27, 2013.She was born on March 26, 1926 in Athens, Ohio and was the daughter of Howard A. and Geneva E. Webster. She retired from the Wood County Board of Education in December 1992 with 26 1/2 years of service as School Secretary at Sumner and Beechwood Schools and was the first Secretary of the newly built Martin School.She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and attended Logan Memorial United Methodist Church and Landmark Baptist Church. She was a champion of the mentally impaired and was a former volunteer of the ARC and Volunteer Action Center.Mrs. Brown was an avid fan of Big Red Football and Chicago Bulls Basketball. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 104 Women's Auxiliary.Virginia's most enjoyable role was that of a loving and devoted wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald G. Brown. She is survived by two sons, Andre' G. and Donald N. “Donnie” of Parkersburg and one daughter, Melanie E. also of Parkersburg; one sister, Olive Williams of Columbus, Ohio; and an especially close nephew, Doug Wade also of Columbus, Ohio.In addition to her husband awaiting her arrival are brother, Lawrence J. Webster; sister, Lois Jean Black; infant brother, Howard Webster; a dear nephew, Dennis Wade; and nephew Jeffrey Williams.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Logan Memorial U.M. Church with the Rev. Bev Colombo, Pastor Lisa Taylor and Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with a memorial service conducted by American Legion Roy Johnson Post 104 Women's Auxiliary at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Donations may be made in memory of Virginia to The ARC of the Mid-Ohio Valley at 912 Markeet St. Parkersburg, WV 26101-4737.
