Virgil Richards, 79, of Washington, W.Va. passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus. He was born February 22, 1933 in Calhoun County, W.Va., son of the late George and Velva Webb Richards.Virgil retired from Stork Bakery after 36 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virgil was a U.S. Army veteran.He is survived by his wife, Lillian Mae Crislip Richards; one daughter, Kathy Montgomery of Washington, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Deidra Montgomery, Brandy Montgomery, and Eryn Horton and husband, Dean; two great-grandchildren, Dakkotah Perkins and Landen Montgomery; one sister, Betty Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two brothers, Joe Richards of North Eaton, Ohio and George Richards of Pennsylvania.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Richards; and one sister, Maxine Russell.It was Virgil's request there be no funeral service. The family will receive friends for a time of remembering from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg will conduct full military honors at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
