Ula Mae Holmes

Ula Mae Holmes, 83 of Belpre, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born July 22, 1928 in Slate, WV., a daughter of the late Fredrick J. Sims and Gladys Reynolds Sims Armel. Ula had worked for Corning Glass and retired from Sears and Roebuck. She also enjoyed decorating homes. She is survived by her daughter, Rozala Holmes Currey of Belpre, Ohio; her son, Kerby Purnell Holmes and his wife, Kathy of Columbus, Ohio; her sister, Lillian Hammer of Belpre; four grandchildren, Felicia M. Currey of Defiance, OH, Ray H. Currey, a U.S. Marine stationed in California, Brittany Wheaton of Torch, and Jessie Holmes of Coolville; two great-grandchildren, Ray L. Currey and Cindy T. Currey both of Defiance, and long time companion and best friend, Walker Hatfield. In addition to her parents Ula was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Holmes in 1997; and her brother, Raymond J. Sims.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, Ohio with Pastor Jim Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
