Troy Lester Miller

Another World War II veteran has left this earth, fittingly for a patriot. Troy Lester Miller, 90, died July 4, 2013.He was born October 4, 1922, in Webster Springs, W.Va., a son of the late Roxie and Adam J. Miller. He was a member and past Deacon of South Parkersburg Baptist Church. Troy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and his battalion arrived at Normandy Beach three days after D-Day. After the war, he went home to Webster Springs and worked at the Ford Garage. He also worked as a mechanic for Borg Warner and later retired from G.E. Chemical Plant following twenty-five years of employment. Troy always believed in helping his fellow man and did so through his many capabilities as a handy-man, mechanic, wood worker, and friend. He was a “good neighbor”.Surviving family include his son, Troy Miller Jr. (Anita); daughter-in-law, Leslie Miller; four granddaughters, Angela Miller, Carissa Miller, Trina Poling (Tom), and Vanessa Miller; and four great-granddaughters, Cyan, Jade, Scarlet, and Violet.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Clara Lucille Miller; one sister; three brothers; and his son, Gordon M. Miller.The family would like to thank the Amedysis Staff, and they would especially like to thank Jessie. They also wish to thank Dr. Newland for the kindness and care shown to Troy. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2013 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 3:00 p.m.
