Tom Butterfield

Tom Butterfield, 84, of Vienna, passed away November 30, 2024 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born August 26, 1940 in Parkersburg to the late Thomas and Martha Dotson Butterfield.

Tom was a 1958 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He was a Church of Christ minister for 65 years, serving many churches in the Mid-Ohio Valley. He attended and was a member of 36th St. Church of Christ in Vienna. Tom loved camping, working on old vehicles, and being with his family. He was a natural comedian, entertaining audiences throughout the area, most notably at the Opera House Theatre in McConnelsville, OH where he played the character “Uncle Doofus.”

He is survived by his wife, Nina Drain Butterfield; one daughter, Brenda Butterfield; two sons, Mark (Terri) and Paul (Melissa) all of Vienna; one daughter-in-law, Christa Butterfield of Waverly, WV; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brian J. Butterfield; one brother, William Butterfield; and two sisters, Alverda Stanley and Leona Derr.

Funeral Services for Tom will be at 11:00 Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the 36th St. Church of Christ in Vienna, officiated by ministers Sam Bartrug and Ron Laughery. Visitation will be held at the church from 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
