A Memorial Video to Bea is now available on this site.Sylvia Beatrice “Bea” Melrose 96 of Slate, W.Va., passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.She was born March 16, 1917 in Slate, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Olive Stephens Pyles. Bea was retired from the Wood County Board of Education with Slate and Mineral Wells Schools where she was a cook. She enjoyed reading her Bible, she completed it numerous times during her life. Bea also enjoyed watching Charles Stanley's programs. She had attended Slate Chapel UMC and was a member of Merrill Chapel Church. She enjoyed embroidering, playing dominoes and working crossword puzzles.She is survived by her children, Wayne Melrose (Linda) of Slate, W.Va., Connie Boggs (Melvin) also of Slate, W.Va., and Kathie Duncan of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Melrose; a daughter, Mary Jo Villers; brothers, Floyd, Emmett and Willard Pyles; son-in-law, Larry Duncan; sisters-in-law, Peg Pyles and Edna Pyles; grandson, Todd Duncan; and great great-grandson, Tyler Noah Villers.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastors Melvin Boggs and Roger Parson officiating. Burial will follow at Merrill Chapel Cemetery in Wirt County, W.Va. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.The family requests that donations be made in Bea's nameto the American Cancer Society.
