Shirley Jo Nichols

Shirley Jo Nichols, 64, of Belpre, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at her residence.She was born September 4, 1947 in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles L. Griffith Sr. and Lena Frances Meredith Griffith. Shirley had a singing group – Shirley Jo and Country Crossroad Band for eight years. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed sewing, loved gospel music, and was a member of the Friendship Ridge Christian Fellowship Church. Shirley is survived by her three sons, Dennis Milton “Butch” Thompson Jr. (Teri) of Vincent, Ohio, Stephen Mathew Thompson (Leanne) of Ravenswood, W.Va., and Kenneth Lee Thompson of Belpre, Ohio; five granddaughters, Chasidy, Charli, Ryley, Sydney, and Alison; one grandson, Garrett;three step-children, Rocky Nichols of Maryland, April Roughton of Delaware, and Wanda McGraw of Maryland; six step-grandchildren; three sisters, Sandy Eddy of Parkersburg,W.Va., Norma Proctor and Barbara Brock, both of Kenna, W.Va.; and two brothers, Charles Griffith, Jr. of Belpre, Ohio and Keith Griffith of Evans, W.Va.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Nichols, Jr.Memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre.
