Rupert Gail “Bud” Bailey, 87 of Parkersburg passed away August 19, 2012 at Camden-Clark Medical Center- St. Joseph's Campus. He was born Jan. 29, 1925 in Lewis County, W.Va., a son of the late Carlos and Mildred Smith Bailey. He was a graduate of Salem College in 1950, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served as a medic in the European and Pacific Theatres of Operation. Bud owned and operated Bailey Insurance until 1995. He was president of Professional Insurance Agents of WV Inc. in 1985, was a 50 plus year member of the Grafton Masonic Lodge #15 AF & AM and a member of the Nemesis Shrine Temple and Cycle Patrol. He was a United Methodist by faith and an avid WVU Mountaineer fan and supporter. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eunice “Jerry” Bailey; two daughters, Sharon Garrett (Greg) of Parkersburg, and Carla Bailey of Atlanta, GA; one son, Gail Bailey of Parkersburg; two sisters, Betty Caynor (Bob) of Sarasota, FL, and Dorothy Dawson of Lost Creek, W.Va.; one brother, Willard Bailey (Pat) of Punta Gorda, FL; three grandchildren, Shane Bailey (Sarah) of Montana, Ryan Garrett (Selena) of CA, and Carlynn Keilty (Simon) of NC; and five great-grandchildren, Adammair Bailey, Brynn and Ronan Keilty, and Avery and Sadie Garrett.A graveside service for family and friends will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Patrick Kerr officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. There will be no visitation.
