Roy G. Meredith, 76, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away suddenly at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus,April 13, 2013.He was born November 20, 1936 in Elizabeth, WV, a son of the late Eber and Eula (Martin) Meredith. He graduated from Wirt County High School with the class of 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge #169 Parkersburg, W.Va., was a member of the American Legion Post #159 Williamstown, W.Va., and retired from Chevron in Marietta, Ohio. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed and never forgotten.He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brookover Meredith; daughters, Dianna Thomas, Rebecca (Steve) Berry, Karen Augustine; sister, Evelyn Carpenter, brother, Charles Meredith; four grandchildren, Tiffany (Brad) Richards, Cody (Bianca) Gregg, Tyler Cox, Cory Cox; six great-grandchildren, Hailee Gregg, Ryan Gregg, Mason Thomas, Preston Gregg, Nolan Gregg, and Madelyn Richards, numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Meredith, Clyde Meredith, and Basil Meredith, and a sister, Lena Griffith.Roy was a strong believer in the love of God, family, and life. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for all. He enjoyed all activities outdoors such as hunting, fishing, golfing, and wood working.Funeral services for Roy will be Noon, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va., with Reverend Randell Fuson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Cemetery in Wiliamstown, W.Va. with full Military honors to be conducted by American Legion Post #159, and Masonic Rites to be conducted by Parkersburg Lodge #169A.F. & A.M. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
