Roy JR “Ike” Cunningham, 73, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on Oct. 3, 2011 at his residence. He was born Feb. 8, 1938 in Pleasants County, W.Va. a son of the late Roy and Hazel Metz Cunningham. He was raised by Fielding and Ella Metz Varner of Bird St. in Parkersburg. He was retired from the Iron Workers Local 787 and was a local bar owner. Roy is survived by four daughters, Fefe Gordon (Jeff) of Walker, W.Va., Melissa Cunningham of Parkersburg, W.Va., Tina Bailey (P-nut) of Harrisville, W.Va., and Misty Cunningham of Fleming, Ohio; one son, Monte Cunningham (Dee) of Veto, Ohio; his step-children, Thom Byrd, James Byrd, Rick Sayre, Manny DeFrietas, and Melissa Nutter; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; five sisters, Dora Jean Rake, May Belle Meeks, Shirly White, Lillian McCrady, and Sharon Williams; special friend, Jack Stewart of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Delbert Hall, Tom Hall, William Hall, Earl Hall; and two sisters, Naomi Merritt, and Barbara L. Cunningham. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
