Roy W. Collins

Roy W. Collins, 52, of Washington, W.Va., passed away April 15, 2011, as a result of an automobile accident.He was born Aug. 12, 1958, in Wise, Va., a son of the late Carson Collins and Helen Stanley Collins Cozzens.Roy was a former employee of Bosley Rental Equipment. He spent the last six years actively fundraising and raising support for a skate park in Parkersburg. He was on the board of directors for the Parkersburg Skate Plaza Foundation Inc. Roy enjoyed being with his three cats and dog, was an avid outdoorsman and loved being with his family that he cherished. He graduated from Falls Church High School in Virginia and received his associate degree in computer science from Mountain State Business College in Parkersburg.Surviving are his wife, Shirley of Parkersburg; three sons, Charles and Robert of Parkersburg and Daniel of Lima, Ohio; step-dad, Lester Cozzens of Manassas, Va.; three sisters, Wilma Cockerham of Galex, Va., and Kathie Smith (David) and Rebecca Bryce (Robert), all of Manassas; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Barbara and Ophie Collins.Funeral services for Roy will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg. Burial will be in Parkersburg Memory Gardens with military honors performed by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.
