Barrett,84,of Vienna, W.Va. passed away March 25,2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.Roy was born February 22,1929,in Parkersburg, W.Va.,son of the late Dallas and Edna Hall Barrett. He retired in 1967 from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. Thereafter he worked for 17 years with the Bureau Of Public Debt, retiring in February 1991. He was a member of VFW Post #1212, Elk's Lodge #198, Fraternal Order of Eagles #2307, and Life Time Member of the American Legion Post #15, where he also served on the Color Guard.Roy is survived by his wife, Charlotte R. Barrett; two daughters and their husbands, Janet & David George and Lori & Michael Shultz, all of Vienna, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Megan Reynolds; great-grandsons, Ethan and Cohen; a sister, Nina Reynolds; three step-nieces; and a step-nephew.He especially loved his cat, Trixie. She was his special friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one brother.Services will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Jim Yoak presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg with full military rights by the American Legion Post #15 Color Guard. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank Housecalls Hospice of Parkersburg, with special thanks to Sherrie Thompson for her care of Roy.
