Roberta Marie McNemar, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2011 at her residence.She was born March 25, 1922 in Ritchie County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Thurmon Simmons and Charlie Mae Cowan.In life she did a variety of jobs: mother, restaurant worker, factory worker and being a crossing guard at Fairplains School. She was a great fan of WVU and Parkersburg South football and basketball, both boys and girls.Roberta is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Moore and Jean (Blaine) Waybright, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four sons, Ralph (Janet) McNemar of Parkersburg, W.Va., Charles (Elizabeth) McNemar of Elkins, W.Va.; Harold (Ruth) McNemar and George McNemar, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter-in-law, Jan McNemar; one brother, William Cowan of the state of Washington; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Bobbie”; and hundreds who knew her as “Grannie” from her crossing guard years at Fairplains. She will be greatly missed.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph McNemar; one son, Michael McNemar; three sisters, Nadine, Lelia and Arda; and three brothers, Ed, Howard and Charles.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to8:00 p.m. Wednesday, and until time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.The family wishes to thank, Hospice, St. Joseph's ER Department and the 4th Floor staff, who was so good to our Mother.
