Robert Herman Shriner

A DVD tribute is now available for viewing. The link is below Bob's picture.Robert “Bob” Herman Shriner, 87, was called home on Aug. 24, 2013, at his residence in south Parkersburg, W.Va. He was born in Wood County, W.Va. on Oct. 30, 1925, a son of the late Henry Shriner and Iva Johnson Casto. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II and attended Baptist Temple in Parkersburg. He went to work as a truck driver for the Teamster Union after the war, and retired from the union.Bob formerly enjoyed square dancing and coaching his stepdaughters' softball teams as they traveled around the region. He hated to miss any sporting event his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren were in, and he attended football games to see his family football players, cheerleaders, soccer matches and wrestling matches. Bob was an avid West Virginia University and Parkersburg South fan. He was also a passionate NASCAR fan.Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Sharon Virginia Shriner; two daughters, Charlotte Ann Stalnaker of Belpre, Ohio, and Cynthia “Cindy” Darlene Brace and husband, Chuck, of Lewistown, Pa.; four stepdaughters, Virginia (Sue) Knight of Parkersburg, W.Va., Janet Louise Pattison and husband, Ed, of Nunn, Colo., and two younger stepdaughters who he raised as his own, Shelia Darlene Buss and husband, Martin, of Greer, S.C., and Trudy Marie Hess of Parkersburg, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Robert Stalnaker (Melinda), Ronald Stalnaker, Angela Parker (Keith), Heather Murray, Lisa Macke (Adam), and Chad Brace; 11 step-grandchildren, Jessica Knight, Felicia Goff (Charlie), Joshua Knight (Savannah), Nicole Johnson (Jarrett), Kenneth Hartshorn (Holly), Jonathan Pattison (Jennifer), Joseph Pattison, Sara Rhodes, Janie Rhodes, Matthew Hess and Kyle Hess; 11 great-grandchildren, Justin, Alyssa, Anna, Kailei, Taylor, Michael, Cade, Laina, Aaron, Nathan and Cole; and 13 step great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Verna P. Shriner; four sisters, Grace Montgomery, Garnet Hedges, Gladys Allen and Wilma Francis; and a brother, Harry Shriner.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
