Robert “Bob” Ray Church, 81, of Belpre, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Marietta Care & Rehabilitation Center, Marietta, Ohio.Bob was born November 1, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late Ernest Anthony and Anna Catherine Morgan Church.Bob learned the trade of typesetting at the Columbus School for the Deaf in Columbus, Ohio where he played on the football, basketball and baseball teams.He also enjoyed bowling and participated on several leagues. He was retired from the Parkersburg News & Sentinel with 29 years of service.He had previously worked for Richardson Printing Corp. in Marietta for 16 years. He was a member ofthe Walnut St. Church of Christ and the Parkersburg Deaf Club where he had served as treasurer.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Loretta Smith Church; a daughter, Susan Buckley and husband, Phil, of Fairfield, Ohio; three sons, Stephen Church and wife, Karen, of Amelia, Ohio; R. Scott Church and companion, Mindy Cooper, of Belpre, Ohio and Samuel Church of Vienna, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Tiffany Arthurs and husband, Jeremy, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Megan Christopher and husband, Colin, of Newport News, Va., Andrew Church of Cincinnati, Ohio; Craig Buckley of Stanford, Calif. and Ryan Buckley of Fairfield, Ohio; two great-granddaughters, Ciearra and Caelin Christopher; and several cousins.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre with Ministers Joe Spivy and Mike Robinson officiating.Services will conclude with interment at Rockland Cemetery, Belpre.The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.In honor of Bob's love of animals, memorials are requested to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, P.O. Box 392, Parkersburg, WV26102.
