Robert "Bob" Bailey Gilbert

Robert “Bob” Bailey Gilbert, 84, of Slate Creek, W.Va., passed away on June 25, 2014 at his residence.He was born January 21, 1930, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Merle and Edna Bailey Gilbert.Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from O'Ames Company. He loved farming, cattle, horses and tractors. He was a board member of the Wood County Farm Bureau, co-founder and Alumni of FFA, Blennerhassett Branch and a member of Slate Chapel United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arda Watson Gilbert; four daughters, Becky Powell of Slate, W.Va., Linda Allen (Roger) of Rose Hill Elizabeth, W.Va., Marilyn Lott (Paul) of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Kim Cline (Ronnie) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; three sons, Steve Gilbert (Heather) of Larkspur, Colo., Mike Gilbert (Tina) of Crescent City, Fla., and Rex Gilbert of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Mary Gilbert Genzery (Gaza) of New York and her children, Catherine Ann, Roger and Chris; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Gilbert, one sister, Juanita Gilbert, and one granddaughter, Melissa Cline.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Paul Williams officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #15 of Parekersburg. Interment will follow at Merrill Chapel Cemetery in Wirt County, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
