Richard Amos Cooper, 93, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Nov. 29, 2012 at Parkersburg Care and Rehab Center.He was born August 28, 1919, in Goldvein, Va., a son of the late Lazarus and Lucy E. Mason Cooper.Richard was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II in the Pacific as a Military Policeman. Upon returning to the states he served as guard to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He retired from Keene Corp. and was a member of Grace Gospel Church.He is survived by a son, Richard L. (Patricia) Cooper of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three daughters, Shirley (Butch) Pritsch and Sylvia Fury, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Brenda (Ken) Thurston of Ohio; two sisters, Lucille Stribling and Becky Seay, both of Virginia; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Weaver Cooper; five sisters; and 3 brothers.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Mike Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
