Reta Elizabeth Sims

Reta Elizabeth Sims, 69 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Dec. 7, 2011 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born Dec. 9, 1941 in Wood County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Floyd and Florence Smith Shields. She was retired from the Bureau of Public Debt. She collected dolls, enjoyed Western movies and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Reta is survived by two daughters, Nadine Maxwell (Mike) of Cairo, W.Va., and Dianna Mason (Tony) of Acworth, Ga.; one son, George Sims of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Myrtle Kinney (Leroy), and Carol Ann Balderson all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five brothers, William Shields (Cherie) of Vienna, W.Va., John Shields (Linda) also of Vienna, W.Va., Roy L. Shields of Coal Run, Ohio, Richard Shields (Brenda) of Woodcock, Ga., and Ted Shields (Linda) of Vienna, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cecil Sims; infant daughter, Nancy Nutter; and two brothers, Russell and Louis Shields.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Loyd Winans officiating. Burial will follow at Core Road Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
