Date and Time of Service: Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 2:30 p.m.posted 9/17/2010 at 4:29:23 PMRaymond Edward Clarkson, 75 of Parkersburg passed away Sept. 15, 2010 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.He was born May 18, 1935 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Howard and Ila Kelly Clarkson. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army for six years and the U.S. Navy for three years. He was retired from CSX Railroad with 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 Parkersburg and was a Methodist by faith. He enjoyed sports and loved watching NASCAR racing.Raymond is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret E. Province Clarkson; two daughters, Debbie Church (Erick) of Parkersburg and Kim Clarkson also of Parkersburg; one son, Mark Clarkson (Heidi) of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren, Bryan Conley (Jenni) of Huntersville, NC, Shawn Conley of Fayetteville, AK, Christopher Clarkson (Brandi) of Columbia, SC, Casey Allen and fiancé, Kati Borcher of Parkersburg, and Shauna Briggs (Zach) of Columbia, SC; seven great-grandchildren, Megan Conley, Madison and Noah Clarkson, Jameson Allen, Zoe Briggs, Kiera and Haylee Allen; and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Michael Allen; one brother, Harold Clarkson; and one sister, Enid Childers.The family wishes to thank nephew, Harold “Jr.” Tanner and many special friends and neighbors. They also wish to thank Dr. Nik Shah and staff, Dr. Dennis Newland and staff, and Housecalls Hospice for their excellent care.Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, WV with Rev. Terry Alvarez officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 Parkersburg. Visitation will be from noon until time of service at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the House Calls Hospice, 1226 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV. 26101.
