Ralph S. Board

Ralph S. Board 58 of Parkersburg, passed away December 2, 2013 at Camden Clark Medical Center, St. Joseph's Campus.He was born January 11, 1955 in Parkersburg, a son of Sarah Parr Board of Parkersburg and the late Sella S. Board.Ralph was active in The Boy Scouts his whole life. He received his Eagle Scout as a young man and became Scout Master of Troop #4 of Parkersburg. He was a 1973 graduate of Parkersburg High School where he played in the Big Red Band. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Glenville State College. He received his Masters Degreefrom West Virginia University. Ralph started his professional career as a District Executive with The KootagaArea Council of The Boy Scouts Of America. He was a long time educator in the Wood County Schools, culminating as the Parkersburg High School Principal. Ralph was presently the Executive Director of RESA V for the past two years.He was a member of the Parkersburg Lions Club where he was second vice-president and editor of the newsletter. Ralph was very active at the St. Andrew's United Methodist Church where he was chairman of the finance team. He is survived by his wife, Deborah S. Herdman Board; one daughter, Kelly Bell (J.C.) of Parkersburg; one grandson, Tyler Bell; one brother, Richard (Linda) Board of Vienna; one nephew, Jeffrey Board of Parkersburg; one great-nephew, Chase Board of Vienna, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.Funeral services for Ralph will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Parkersburg High School Auditorium with the Reverend Dr. Thomas McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday and 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, WV. and one hour prior to services Saturday at the Parkersburg High School Auditorium.Memorial donations are requested to The Parkersburg High School Stadium Committee or St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
