R. Clyde Wolverton

R. Clyde Wolverton, 90, of Parkersburg passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his residence after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.Clyde was born March 4, 1923 a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Icie Gay Smith Wolverton in Munday, WV and grew up in Kinchloe, WV.He retired from Corning Glass in 1985 where he was a machine operator for 26 years. He formerly worked for the State Road, Parkersburg Steele, Foothill Electric, and the Parkersburg Rig and Reel Company. He was a longtime member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and was presently a member of Word Of God Ministries of Parkersburg.He enjoyed traveling, gardening, welding and his pets.He is survived by his three sons, Stephen, James, and Thomas Wolverton all of Parkersburg; a neice, Rebecca Martin and her children, Mariah, Nick, and twins, Abby and Sadie; a niece, Andrea (Alan) Sinnett and their sons, Philip and Andrew.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mae Bradley Wolverton, they were married October 10, 1948 by the late Pastor Rossing Smith. Helen passed away January 17, 2012. He was also preceded in death by two half-sisters and two half-brothers.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Word of God Ministries, State Route 47, Parkersburg, with Pastor Lynn Roush officiating. Burial will follow at the Hartley Cemetery, Wirt County. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm. To 8:00 pm. Monday, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, South Parkersburg and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Word of God Ministries, P.O.
