Orrin Ray Lockhart

January 19, 1936 — April 2, 2025

Orrin Ray Lockhart, 89, passed away peacefully, April 2, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He on born January 19, 1936, the fifth of fifteen children to Noel and Ida May Brotten Lockhart in Jackson County. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, friend and neighbor, sharing his care and wisdom with all.

For 89 years, he was a loving father, grandfather, and skilled craftsman whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives. A proud graduate of Gilmore High School, he remained a dedicated alumnus, attending banquets year after year. His service in the United States Army instilled in him a strong sense of duty and honor, qualities that shone through in all aspects of his life. He was fortunate to see Germany, France and the Eiffel Tower. Following his service, he worked at DuPont before dedicating himself to his true passion: his sawmill and woodworking. His love of forestry and woodworking started at an early age.  Timbering as a young man all over Jackson and Wirt County, starting out in the early years using teams of horses and cross-cut saws.  He could tell you the type of every tree and wood.  He created custom furniture and kitchen installations for family, friends, and clients across several states. In later years, he specialized in porch swings. His creations grace locations such as Henderson Hall in Boaz, WV, and the Oil and Gas Museum in Parkersburg, WV. His legacy of craftsmanship lives on through his son Shayne and grandsons, Blair and Cody Pratt, who carry on the family tradition. A devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Andy Griffith Show, Orrin's memory will be cherished by all who knew his warm smile and generous heart.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Carla (Dave) Holbert, Orrin Shayne (Traci) Lockhart and Michael Lockhart all of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Blair (Jessica) Pratt of Mineral Wells, Msgt USAF Cody Orrin, Pratt( Shawna) of Bossier City, LA, Benjamin Lockhart of Mineral Wells, Jeremiah Lockhart of Parkersburg, and Jacob (Cassandra) Lockhart of Parkersburg;  great grandchildren, Randy Kukich, Lucille Pratt, Owen Pratt, Zoey Pratt, Alice Jane Pratt, Cali Lockhart, Lillie Jett, Loralei Shamblin, Layla Shamblin, and Kellon Shamblin; and great-great grandson, Zayden Joe Kukich. He is also survived by his sisters, Pauline Cain, Jenny Prunty, and Margaret Lockhart; brothers, Russell Lockhart and Dale Lockhart; a special sister-in-law, Glenna Pinter; and special friends and neighbors, Fred and Debbie Fenton, Ferris Nediff, Gene Cooper, Jamie Smith, Mary and Dave Jeffrey, Randy Douglas and family, Vane Deem, and Jerry and Shirley Evans.
