Opal Ruth Moore

September 2, 1922 — April 12, 2013

Our mother, Opal Ruth Moore, age 90 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away peacefully Friday, April 12, 2013 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus. She was a lifelong resident of West Virginia and for most of her life, Parkersburg was her home.Our mother, Opal is survived by her son, Lewis L. Moore and his long timepartner, Angelia Blair of Parkersburg, W.Va.; daughter, Linda Moore Simmons and her husband, Paul Simmons of South Charleston, W.Va.; Opal's daughter, Elaine Moore and partner, Debby McHenry of St. Albans, W.Va.; and her youngest son, S. Patrick Moore of Parkersburg. Opal is also survived by her granddaughter, Tina Maher ,of Charleston, W.Va.; granddaughter, Mindy Maher Rutherford and husband, Ben Rutherford of Parkersburg. She also leaves behind Autumn Moore, her late son, Tim Moore's wife; a granddaughter, Greer Berk and husband, Seth Berk; and great-granddaughter, Quinn Berk all of Lyndhurst Ohio.A wonderful blessing came to Opal five months ago, her great-granddaughter, Sarah Josephine Rutherford was born. She took great pleasure in being “Great-Grandmother Opal”. Opal is also survived by her wonderful sisters, Esther, Carolyn, and Ramona. They enjoyed getting together and going out to lunch together and having sister-time. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews and their families. Her beloved dog, Rosie, was a great companion for her. Her neighbors Jane and Rick Bayliss were wonderful friends and helpful to Opal. Don Shackelford was a very dear friend.She leaves behind numerous friends she encountered throughout her life.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis L. Moore; her adopted son, Sean Rose; also her dearly loved son, Timothy Moore whose death saddened her greatly. Our mother Opal loved to cook, garden, and sew. She made beautiful Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.Later in life Opal enjoyed working at Noah's Ark in Vienna. She was an active supporter of the Humane Society and loved all animals.The family would like to especially thank Eagle Pointe for making her comfortable in her last few months. Dr. Brian Powderly was of tremendous help in caring for her. Special thanks to Dr. Orton Armstrong, her family doctor for the care and support he provided our mother. Thanks to Camden Clark Medical Center for her final tender care.At Opal's request there will be no public visitation or service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.Our mother Opal would greatly appreciate any memorial donations be made to the Wood County Humane Society.The family finds great comfort in knowing that she will be with her family that passed before her.
