A Video Tribute to “Doc” is now available on this site.Ola Ray “Doc” Burdette, 82, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Sept. 20, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.He was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Reedy, W.Va., a son of the late Howard Herman and Rebecca Ellen Camp Burdette.Doc had previously owned and operated the Burdette's Union 76 and Burdette Sunoco for 45 years. He enjoyed raising and running fox hounds on his Utah Hill Fox Pen, where he and Dortha hosted hunters from all over the United States. Doc served as president of the Butcher Hill Hunt Club and West Virginia State Fox Chasers for many years.Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Dortha Mason Burdette; two sons, Steven Ray Burdette (Susan) of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Michael Ray Burdette (Melissa) of Washington, W.Va.; one daughter, Debbie S. Marchant (Jarvis) of Hazlehurst, Ga.; grandchildren, Megan Marchant and Matt Marchant (Kelsey) of Hazlehurst, Ga., Amber Silvia (Tom) and Trampus Burdette (Danielle), Zack Burdette and Tyler Burdette, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and three great-grandsons, Bryson, Nate and Zachary.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with the Rev. Lorus Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
