Rev. Norman Edwin Wilcox, 83, of Vienna, W.Va., died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at his residence.He was the eldest child of the late Audrey and Florence Sims Wilcox, Parkersburg, W.Va. Born in Parkersburg on April 20, 1928, Norman was a 1946 PHS graduate; a 1952 graduate of Morris Harvey College, Charleston, W.Va.; and a 1978 graduate of Methodist Theological Seminary of Ohio, Delaware, Ohio. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as YMCA Physical Director, Union Mission of Parkersburg Director, Bonded Oil, and served various churches in Michigan and West Virginia as a United Methodist minister. He retired from Cottageville UM Church in 1990. He was a member of Fort Neal Kiwanis Club, the Masonic Lodge, Civil Air Patrol, Parkersburg YMCA Board of Directors, and the Boy Scouts of America. He attended the St. John UM Church, Vienna, W.Va. Norman is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Ann (Criss) Wilcox; daughter, Susan (Terry) Ellison, Parkersburg, W.Va.; sons, Tim (Brenda), Raleigh, NC, Jim, Lakewood, CO, and Steve (Michelle), Brockport, NY; grandchildren, Courtney, Emily, Bethany (Kellen), Ryan, Olivia, Caroline, and Luke; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Alexis. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Belle (Bud) Ford, Vienna, W.Va.; brother, Roy (Sandy) Wilcox, Hurricane, UT; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his caregiver, Jennifer Beaver. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Rev. Danny McVey, Rev. Bryan Blair, and Rev. Norman Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Gideon's International for the distribution of Bibles. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
