Nelson Ray McDonald, 62, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on October 30, 2013 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.He was born December 28, 1950, a son of Eldean Wright McDonald of Parkersburg and the late Harold McDonald.Nelson was a U.S. Army veteran. He was formerly employed at Exel Warehouse and was a member of Homeland Community Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an animal lover and enjoyed his special dog, Chloe.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cathy McDonald; one daughter, Angie (Will) Abernathy of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Jason (Kristi) McDonald of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Linda Schamp of Washington, W.Va., Sheila (Kyle) Mann of Vienna, W.Va., and Beverly (Charlie) Elliott of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Cody Byers of Parkersburg, W.Va., Kiara McDonald and Bryce McDonald, both of Orlando, Fla.; close friends, Tom and Barbara Fittro of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie McDonald.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Brady Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
