Michiko Takeuchi Smith

Michiko T. Smith, 75, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away on Dec. 19, 2011 at her residence.She was born Jan. 23, 1936, in Tokyo, Japan, a daughter of the late Saito and Kikuko Takeuchi.She is survived by three daughters, Sharon R. (Skip) McKarcher of Haleiwa, Hawaii, Shirley A. (Bryan) Stephens of Williamsburg, Va., and Jennifer L. (Greg) Piersol of Belpre, Ohio; two sons, Robert D. Smith Jr. of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. and David C. Smith (Melanie) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Midori, Mayumi, and Mieko;four grandchildren, Amber L. Stephens of Danville, Va., Athena L. (Kevin) Carigan of Clifton, N.J., Brianna Stephens of Williamsburg, Va., and Cameron K. Piersol of Belpre, Ohio.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Smith; and one son, Paul Wayne Smith.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Jay Hubbard officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Michiko's caregivers, Christine Crislip and Susie Hunt, her nurse, Lois Francisco and the staff of Amedysis.
