Michael Andrew Swaim

March 15, 1969 — September 22, 2011

Forty two years ago a child of God was given to the world. Sadly on Sept. 22, 2011 he was called back home. Michael Andrew Swaim, 42 of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. Mike graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1987. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, where he specialized in Electronics. After leaving the Navy and returning to Parkersburg, Mike pursued his joy of cooking. He was a chef in many area restaurants. Those who knew Mike knew he was a kind spirit, a gentle soul who loved unconditionally. He always had words of wisdom he liked to share. He was a dear friend to many and was loved by all who knew him. Michael is survived by his parents, Bill and Linda Gibson of Jacksonville, FL; his children whom he loved so much, Savanna Brook Bonson, (21), Ian Andrew Swaim (13), and Joe Naylor all of Parkersburg; wife, Sharlene Swaim (Bonson); brother, Mark Allen Swaim (Kim)of Roanoke, VA; and several nieces and nephews who loved their “Uncle Mike”. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ethel Parsons and grandfather, Edward Evans; grandparents, Delbert and Edith Pernell; and uncle, Charles R. Pernell. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Rev. Paul McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
