Melissa A. Greathouse McPherson Smith, 66, of Vienna, became an Angel on March 6, 2020, after her passing at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born June 30, 1953 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Eugene and Delma Emerick Greathouse. Melissa was a 1971 graduate of Parkersburg High School. She was a material supervisor for the West Virginia Dept. of Highways. She formerly worked at Parkersburg Steel as a switch board operator and receptionist. She also worked as a bridge inspector for the West Virgina Dept. of Highways. She enjoyed crafts and collecting Native American Cultural Artifacts. She is survived by her son, Brandon L. McPherson of Vienna (Jessica) of Charleston. Her significant other Michael Murray of Tornado, WV; one sister, Carolyn Rule (Stephen) of St. Marys, WV; two brothers, Richard Greathouse (Charlene) of Belpre and Raymond Greathouse of Cedar Grove, her beloved dog, Chloe and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life gathering, for Melissa will be from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Saturday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Parkersburg Humane Society, or charity of your choice.
