Mary Jane Furr, 92 of Vienna, WV passed away of natural causes on Saturday, April 18, 2020. At the time of her passing, she was at Belpre Landing Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Belpre, Ohio. Mary Jane was born on July 1, 1927 in Stouts Mills, WV to the late Ed Shiflett and Minnie Turner Hite. She was a member of the Sand Fork Baptist Church in Gilmer County. She graduated from Sand Fork High School, Class of 1945. She was a 4-H Leader in Gilmer County before beginning her career at Rubber Fabricators, Grantsville, WV. She managed Furr’s Grocery in Gilmer County before moving to Vienna. In Vienna, she was the bookkeeper for her husband’s company, Furr Masonry. Mary Jane enjoyed traveling, camping and collecting bells and angels from places she, family and friends visited. She loved her cat Fluffy who was with her for 15 years. Surviving are two sons, Jerry Furr (Rhonda “Cookie” Kaptis) of Vienna and Mark Furr (Mary-Price) of High Point, NC; a granddaughter Stephanie Deem (Scott) of Parkersburg and two grandsons, Chase Barlow Furr of Dallas, TX and John Steven Furr of High Point, NC. Additionally she is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, in particular a special niece Diane Furr McMichael of Cutler, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville Dale Furr, a daughter Beverly Diane Hays and a half- brother James Hite. A family memorial service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, 530 29th Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
