Marie J. Hayes

Marie June Hayes, 80, of Belpre, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2012 following an extended illness.She was born May 29, 1932 at Sissonville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Emmett S. and Pearl M. Hughart Miller.Marie was a homemaker and a member of the Legion of Guardsmen and the VFW.She was Baptist by faith.She is survived by two daughters, Sandra L. Gant and husband, Stephen Sr. of Belpre, Ohio and Sue A. Branch and husband, Richard of Coolville, Ohio; one brother, Carlos F. Miller and wife, Edie of Belpre, Ohio; two grandsons, Stephen A. Gant, Jr. (Melissa) and Scott M. Gant (Michelle); twelve great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Donna Miller, of Belpre, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ernest D. “Red” Hayes in 2009; and two brothers, Arthur Ray Miller and E.L. “Red” Miller.It was Marie's wishes to be cremated and her ashes be scattered along with her husband's on the beach by the pier in Jacksonville, Fla.
