M. Billie Desmond

M. Billie Desmond, 87, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on May 11, 2014 at her residence.She was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Herbert and Alice Keenan Affolter.Billie was a homemaker, had been employed by Viscose, Corning Glass and IBEW Credit Union. She was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.She is survived by two daughters, Amy Armstrong (Tom Frank) and Beth Desmond, both of Parkersburg; two sons, Chris Desmond of Millington, Tenn. and John Desmond (Tarra) of Parkersburg; one sister, Jean Cummings of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Sara Armstrong (Brandon Wharton), Morgan Desmond, Jesse Wilt, and Stephanie Lewis (Scott); great-grandchildren, Daniel Lewis, Nathan Lewis and Parker McRobert; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Desmond Jr.; one sister, Annabelle Edwards; one brother, Ralph Affolter; half brother, Ray Yates; and a son-in-law, Robert Armstrong.Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va.Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in Billie's memory.The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers, Marcella Waldron, Dicie Phillips-Duckworth, Jacqueline Miller, Barbara Morris and Housecalls Hospice.
