Louise Brabham, 96, of Davisville, WV, formerly of Liverpool, WV, left this earth on January 1, 2021 to join her late husband, John D Brabham, and friends in heaven’s choir. Louise was born on April 2, 1924 in Wetzel County, WV to the late Burl and Mary Jane Fluharty.In addition to her husband and parents, Louise was also preceded in death by a son, Roger Dayle, two brothers and five sisters, and her son-in-law, John Gresham. Louise lived a full life, enjoying her family, as well as the many friends she has made over the years.She was a member of the Edgelawn United Methodist Church.In her early twenties, Louise was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse, near Gay, WV.Her students told her about their uncle, John D, who was in the Army, serving overseas in WWII. She wrote to John D and when he returned home, they married after a brief courtship.Louise and John D operated a small leather-goods business out of their home in New Haven, WV until they retired back to Roane County in 1974. Louise and John D were members of the Gospel Four Quartet and enjoyed traveling over West Virginia sharing the Gospel through song.They especially enjoyed the State Gospel Sing at Mt. Nebo each summer. Louise is survived by her children, Rhonda (Pat) Ryan of Eagle Rock, VA, Rita Gresham of Mineral Wells, WV, Joyce (Rick) White of Belva, WV, David (Debra) Brabham of Goodview, VA and Mary Lou (David) Calhoun of Davisville, WV, with whom Louise made her home the last 27 years. She is also survived by one sister, Vivian (Paul) Poling; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses on 2W at Marietta Memorial Hospital and the Amedysis Hospice Staff at MMH.Their care for our Mother was amazing. A Funeral Service will be held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, WV at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021, with Pastor Danny McVey officiating. The family requests that everyone wear a mask and observe social distancing.Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Roane County.Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in memory of Louise to the Edgelawn United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4804 Fourth Avenue, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
