Linda L. Smith

Linda L. Zirkle Smith, 85, of The Arbors in Marietta and formerly of Parkersburg passed away April 13, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born July 3, 1934 in Parkersburg, daughter of the late Dorsie and Hazel Gant Zirkle. She spent her professional career as a bookkeeper in the automotive business. She worked with McClinton Chevrolet, Astorg Buick and retired from Summers Motors in Marietta. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Parkersburg. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Stephen (Paige) Smith of Parkersburg; daughters, Cathy Nichols of Parkersburg and Susan Mercer of Victor, WV; granddaughters, Katie Rhodes of Parkersburg, Shay Bennett (Chad) of Victor and Abby Smith of Morgantown, WV; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Charlee Grace Bennett of Victor and Karis Rhodes of Parkersburg. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy G. Zirkle and Jack D. Zirkle; and her longtime companion, Ward Clevenger. There will be no visitation or service at the funeral home. However, a graveside service will be open to the public at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Limestone Hill Cemetery near Rockport, WV with Pastor David Carrico officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Limestone United Methodist Church or Habitat For Humanity in Linda’s memory. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
