Lawrence Dale Morris, 77, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away June 8, 2012 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus after a long illness. He was Methodist and attended First Methodist Church, Long Beach, MS.He was born January 16, 1935, in Smithville, W.Va., a son of the late George and Amy Brissey Morris. Lawrence was a graduate of Harrisville High School and later obtained his Bachelor ofScience Degree in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University at Morgantown. He then went to work with the former Borg-Warner, currently GE Plastics, where he was employed for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a seasoned professional with 35 years experience in management and administration ofglobal projects in the chemical industry. Having worked in Washington, WV., Ube, Japan, Shellyville, Ky., Coboury, Ont., Cariville, La., Grangemouth, Scotland and Bay, St. Louis, and MS. He was formerly active in the Odd Fellows organization and the State Board of Professional Engineers. Some of things he enjoyed were golfing, painting, and especially wood-working. Spending time with the great-grandchildren, Hayden and Rosie who were his greatest enjoyment. Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Martha L. Pittman Morris; two daughters, Susan L. Morris of Vienna, W.Va. and Kristin L. Morris of Harrisville, W.Va.; one son, Denzil E. Morris (Betty J.) of San Diego, CA; one granddaughter, Renee Anne Quimby of Vienna, W.Va.; two great-grandchildren, 11 year old Hayden B. Morris and 3 year old Parker Rose Morris, both of Vienna, W.Va.; one step-graddaughter, Angie Whitehead of Newburn, NC; two step-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Dalton Whitehead, also of Newburn, NC; two sisters, Mildred Heiskell and husband (Elvin) who is deceased, of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Lillian Davis (Bob) of Grantsville, W.Va.; one brother, George F. Morris (Hope) of Nitro, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother,Edward “Bud” Morris.Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with Reverend Daniel Bryan officiating. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery at Harrisville, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
