Laura Bell Gainer, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died peacefully at The Arbors in Marietta on April 27, 2011 with her sister and brother-in-law by her side.She was anticipating being welcomed into heaven by family and friends. She had earlier told one of her cousins that heaven was her favorite place to think about.She was born November 19, 1941 to Oscar and Laura Woofter Gainer and grew up in Glenville, W.Va., graduating from Glenville High School and Glenville State College.Laura Bell was a teacher and a librarian in Calhoun and Roane County, W.Va. schools prior to her retirement. Following her retirement, she moved to Parkersburg and became involved in a number of activities. Music was one of her primary gifts. She loved playing at hospitals and nursing homes either alone, with friends or more lately with her cousins. She was active in a number of local churches, sharing her generosity and talents.She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Alvin Phillips.She was so proud of her nephews; Adam who lives in Charlotte, N.C. and Aaron and his wife, Lindley, who live in El Cerrito, Calif. She will be missed by many friends, particularly her close friend Bruce DeQuasie; and many cousins.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Rev. David Carpenter and Pastor Robert Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Tanner, W.Va. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.Memorials may be sent to Habitat for Humanity, FaithLink, or the charity of choice.
