Larry Koon, 66, of Vienna, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2012 at Camden-Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born April 26, 1946 in Ripley, W.Va., a son of the late Homer and Vesta Robey Koon. Larry was employed as an author and newspaper columnist, having written multiple books on antiques and collectibles for several publishing companies. He had also been the author of a weekly antiques column for the Marietta Times since 1991. He was a member of The Rock Church of Parkersburg. Surviving is his daughter, Janet Hiner and husband, Kenneth of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Hannah Koon and Kenny Hiner, both also of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Wilma Cuvelier and husband, Jim of Lancaster, Ohio; his former longtime companion and friend, Ruby G. Hayden and husband, Edward; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor David Chisholm officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
