Lanore Kay Edman Sims, 64, of Mineral Wells, W.Va. passed away October 25, 2014 at home surrounded by her family and friends.Lanore was born September 20,1950 in Parkersburg, W.Va. to the late Robert Lee and Flora Lavella Criss Edman.Lanore graduated with the Class of 68' at Parkersburg High School and had previously attended Parkersburg Community College. Lanore had worked for SBR, Simonton Windows, and Camden Clark Medical Center. She was also a lifelong member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Parkersburg.Lanore is survived by her devoted husband and soul mate, Larry Alan Sims; one daughter, Kristine Elaine Horton of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two sons, David Alan (Charity) Horton also of Mineral Wells, and Carl Robert (Amber) Horton of Parkersburg, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Caplinger, Jessica (Micaiah) Caplinger, Takoda, Logan and Landyn Horton, and Gracie, Hayden, Madison, and Chloe Horton; one great-grandson, Princeton Caplinger; one great-granddaughter (1/10/15) Amiyah Lanore Jackson; four sisters, Jane (Ray) Willison, Ethel (Marvin) Sallee, Ruth (Jim) Smith, and Sue (Bill) Copeland; one brother, Jim Lee (Linda) Edman; mother-in-law, Imogene Sims; three sister-in-laws, Becky (Gene) Gregory, Brenda (Larry) Townsend, and Elaine (Rick) Johnson; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved very much. She is also survived by her pet dachshunds, Gabbie and Cash.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Frank Edman; two sisters; Lavella and Nancy Edman; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Edman and Darlene Hart; father-in-law, Carl Sims; mother-in-law, Leafy Leola Horton; one niece, Beverly Sallee; one great-nephew, Justin Willison; and two pet cocker spaniels, Mindy and Molly.The family would like to thank Dr. Seyed Ghodsi, Dr. Nik Shah, Dr. Joan Allman, RN Karen Halley, Dr. Michael Galloway, and the nurses at Housecalls Hospice. We also would like to say thank you to her daughter-in-law, Charity Horton and her niece, Debbie and Keith Eleam for being there for her to the very end keeping her comfortable and also Pastor Casey and Shelly for being there for the family during this difficult time. And thank you to all who have prayed for Lanore and the family during the last three years.Our strong faithful, courageous Mother won her battle with brain cancer. It did not defeat her. She won the greatest gift of all, eternal life in Heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ and with her family and friends that have passed before her. We love you mom forever and always.Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Sunrise Baptist Church, 709 Hill Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Reverend Casey Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sunrise Baptist Church in Lanore's name.
