Kenneth Richard Winans, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Oct. 18, 2012, at the Masonic Home of Parkersburg. He was born Jan. 3,1926, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Roscoe G. and Clara M. Barnhart Winans. Kenneth had previously worked for the former B & O Railroad and later retired as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Kenneth was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served in WWII. He was a former member of the Seventh Street United Methodist Church and was a current member of the Episcopal Church of Good Shepherd of Parkersburg. He was also a member of Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge #3, York Rite, Scottish Rite, past watchmen of the Shepherd of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Nemesis Shrine Temple, past Monarch of Ben Bey Grotto P.M., Horse Traders Degree, Hillbilly Degree, Kentucky Colonels, Tennessee Squire, Past Patron of the Eastern Star, Prelate of the Amaranth, past Admiral of the Cherry River Navy, past President of South Parkersburg Improvement Assoc., Wood County Preservation and Historical Society, and the Southwood Teen Club. Surviving is one son, Charles Winans of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two daughters, Rebecca Winans, also of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Vickie Morris of Beltsville, Md.; five grandchildren, Janeth Johnson (Darren) of Cross Lanes, W.Va., April Kessell (Jim) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Angie Kimble (Jeremy) of Huntington, W.Va., Cindi Laufman (Chris) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Amanda Parson of Beltsville, Md.; six great-grandchildren, Alondra Johnson of Cross Lanes, W.Va., Trey, Kyle, and Hunter Kessell, all of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Jared and James Laufman, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; foster son, Ralph Bennett of Columbus, Ohio; and foster granddaughter, Doris Anne Bennett of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen Haught-Morris Winans; his second wife, Beverly Morgan Winans; his infant son, Richard Winans; and his foster grandson, Ron Bennett. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Marjorie Bevans officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full Masonic rites provided by Mt. Olivet Lodge #3 and full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., where an Eastern Star service will take place 7 p.m. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
